POINT BLANK RANGE - MIXED BULLSEYE LEAGUE

POINT BLANK RANGE  MIXED BULLSEYE LEAGUE

The Mixed Bullseye League is open to both men and women, and will follow standard NRA Conventional Pistol (Bullseye Shooting) rules, with a few exceptions. Bullseye shooting is traditionally shot using one hand; however, to encourage new shooters, all participants have the option of using two hands. In addition, the NRA Dropped Point Handicap system will be used, which allows even beginning shooters to compete evenly with experienced shooters. There will be no alibis for malfunctions. Optical sights are allowed, and a total of sixty rounds will be required. The course will be shot at fifty feet using standard NRA Fifty-Foot Slow Fire (B-2) and Fifty-Foot Timed/Rapid Fire (B-3) targets. The courses of fire are as follows:

nra_b_2_1_3 B2__50_Ft_Slow_Fire

RIMFIRE (.22LR)

Slow Fire: 10 shots fired in five minutes.

Timed Fire: Two, 5 shot strings, each fired in twenty seconds.

Rapid Fire: Two, 5 shot strings, each fired in ten seconds.

CENTERFIRE

Slow Fire: 10 shots fired in five minutes.

Timed Fire: Two, 5 shot strings, each fired in twenty seconds.

Rapid Fire: Two, 5 shot strings, each fired in ten seconds.

TWO EVENTS WITH ONE ENTRY FEE! Although there is only one entry fee, the Bullseye League actually consists of two separate contests, the Rimfire Event and the Centerfire Event, with a winner for each event. Participants may choose to compete in only one or both events. For example, a participant only wants to compete in the rimfire event. That person will fire a rimfire pistol for a score in the rimfire event, then shoot the centerfire event with the rimfire handgun for fun and practice. Only the first score will be recorded. Conversely, a person desiring to compete only with a centerfire handgun will fire the first event for a score, and then shoot the second event for fun and practice. Only the first score will be recorded. Throughout the course of the Bullseye League, all recorded scores will be averaged for handicapping purposes, but only the top four scores will be totaled for event standings.

The Art of Concealed Carry - So. Charlotte

The Art of Concealed Carry - $45

Choosing which type of concealed carry method is right for you requires consideration for comfort and fit, as well as what type of firearms are best suited for you as an individual.  How quickly can you get to your defensive handgun, and can you deploy it effectively?  Our instructors are seasoned and knowledgeable in the art of carrying concealed, and will pass this knowledge on to you in this 3 hour class designed for John Q. Public.  This class will consist of 2 hours of lecture and one hour of practical application to include drawing from the concealed location and dry firing.

Advanced Concealed Handgun – 3 Hours

This course includes 2 hours of classroom instruction and a dry fire practical application:

•    Loading and unloading your firearm.

•    Carrying Concealed - Comfort & Fit

•    Drawing, aiming and dry firing from the concealed carry.

Using your concealed handgun should be a last resort, but training how to use it should be a high priority. Using a handgun to save your life or the life of a loved one is much different than target practice in a comfortable environment. Altered terrain, stressful conditions and more can greatly effect your accuracy and reaction time.

Mixed Falling Plate League

RAC-001-A Rack Angle 042413 (3)

Beginning February 24th we will be starting our Mixed Falling Plate League format. Guys and Gals will be shooting on the same night but will be competing in their own categories.  For the Guys, you will be shooting to see who emerges on June 2nd as Plate Master - Man of Steel and for the Ladies you will be competing for the title of Top Steel Magnolia.

The shooting formats are the same for both men and women. Each night competitors will be shooting at our NRA Bianchi Cup rated falling plate racks built by Best Targets of Mooresville NC. Each shooter will have to knock down FIVE 8” round plates per string. Shooting five strings at 25ft and then five strings at 40ft, (not all at once). Your best THREE times at each distance will be recorded for that night. There will be seven league nights available to shoot before the Grand Finale Shoot Off. Your four best night’s scores will be recorded for the overall standings.

The competitor with the lowest over all time would normally be the winner but that would be too easy. Instead the top 10 competitors with the lowest overall times will be invited to the Grand Finale Shoot Off on June 2nd. Here competitors will shoot in a head to head format, dueling for the last plate down. The competitor with the best two out three wins moves up the J-ladder until One Plate Master and One Steel Magnolia stand alone. The Grand Finale format gives the other top shooters one last chance to take the top slot.

Women on Target So. Charlotte

Women on Target

Women on Target is a Winchester/NRA marksmanship qualification program designed to encourage women to become more involved in target shooting through a self-paced shooting program. This marksmanship qualification program is a hands-on shooting activity that provides incentive awards for developing and improving your skills. It is one of the most popular activities we provide for women. The only person you are in competition with is yourself. All you have to do is beat your own last best score. Performance is measured against established scores the take you from beginning skill levels (Pro-Marksman, Marksman) through intermediate levels (Marksman 1st Class, Sharpshooter and expert) all the way to a nationally recognized skill level (Distinguished Expert). Scores are challenging, but attainable, and when you meet or exceed a rating requirement, you are entitled to the corresponding recognition awards for that rating. It’s fun! It’s self-paced.

Point Blank Range is excited to offer organized sessions for women who would like to participate. We have NRA Certified Instructors on hand to instruct, coach and encourage you along the path to Distinguished Expert.
